Days of the Anti-Christ Have Returned, Again

At least once in every lifetime a large number of believers decide that someone or some group is the Anti-Christ. I heard it as a boy about Ronald Reagan and it's now being said about Barrack Obama too. Crises always happen on the world stage, and as Believers, we have a need for a scapegoat for our insecurities. That's what is happening today as a growing number of Christians look to the Islamic world as the place where the new Anti-Christ will rise.

 “I understand that I’m going to be viewed as a fringe, apocalyptic Christian,” said Joel Richardson, author of several books predicting an Islamic Antichrist. “But I fully own the idea that the Antichrist will be a Muslim and will come out of the Muslim world.”

Consider for a moment that 9/11 set in motion the recent obsession with Muslims as the Anti-Christ. The fear however is being fed by others who are equally hostile to Muslims, even though they don't share the same religious sentiments. Specifically, I am referring to Pamela Geller, a Jewish woman who appears to have a fear of Muslims deeper than even the apocalyptic Christians. Where is your Anti-Christ coming from? Is he/she a Muslim, Mormon, Communist, Latino, Black, Southern Baptist or a Jew? Pick one. Then go buy some art that reflects your anxiety and keep it at home, where you can fret and be afraid all by yourself. The rest of us are going to seek peace.
