Mohammad Ehsai's Works Win High Bids at Sotheby's Doha

QATAR---Veteran Iranian calligrapher and painter Mohammad Ehsai's artifacts have fetched high prices at Sotheby's Contemporary Art auction in Doha. Listed among the auction's first top lots, Ehsaie's work Love which is an acrylic and silver leaf on canvas in six parts achieved USD $437,000. Born in 1939, Mohammad Ehsai is one of the leading artists incorporating Persian script into new artistic expressions shaped by Islamic art forms. He studied at the Fine Art Faculty of the University of Tehran and joined the faculty as an instructor in 1971. [link]
