ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By Tahlib
UNITED KINGDOM---By creating unpredictable 'situations' for viewers, some artists including Robert Montgomery, whether they claim the label of "religious" (or not) create radically new ways of seeing our environments, and ourselves within those environments. Robert Montgomery is a fine artist based in London, whose work we first discovered a few months ago.
On Kickstarter, the publishing team mono.kultur described him as an an artist who writes poems – "but instead of publishing them in books, he sends them out into the public space in the form of large light installations or billboards in between advertising. Robert never signs his work – so when you come across one if his billboards in the streets, you don’t really know where the message came from, but you immediately know who it is addressed to: it is addressed to you – to all of us. He works in a poetic and melancholic post-situtationalist tradition." Robert makes billboard pieces. He makes recycled sunlight pieces. He lights fire poems; carves woodcut panels; and creates drawings. Robert gives new meaning to the idea of touching the voice of God.
